Angola, Ind. – Cameron Hospital’s new state-of-the-art MRI system not only offers comfort and quality to patients, but now is the only place in Northeast Indiana and in the immediate tri-state area registered to perform conditional MR scans on patients with Medtronic complete SureScan pacing systems (pacemakers). “We are proud to offer this service to not only the local community, but to those in the broader region,” said Todd Duff, Cameron Imaging Services Director. “Historically, patients with implanted pacemakers were denied access to MRI procedures because the interaction can be harmful. Now through clinical advancements and our local investment in advanced technology, we are able to help a percentage of that population.”
There are approximately 1.5 million people in the United States who have an implanted pacemaker and an estimated 200,000 who are turned away each year. Within twelve months of the SureScan device implanted, an estimated 13 percent of the patients learned that they need an MRI.
“Our staff is committed to working with physicians to help facilitate a safe and successful scan for our SureScan patients,” said Duff.
Cameron encourages patients to take an active role in their healthcare. Talk with your physician or call Cameron’s Imaging Services department at (260) 665-2141, ext. 5136 to learn more about your SureScan options. To schedule an appointment call (260) 665-2141 ext. 5128.
