Fayette Board Of Education Agrees To Solar Powered Sign Partnership With Village

IMG_0558.JPGMembers of the Fayette Local Board of Education convened in regular session on the evening of April 14.

Superintendent Erik Belcher reported that a grant was received by Fayette Chief of Police, Jason Simon, in the amount of $2,000 to install two solar powered slow signs that will be installed during the summer at the end of Gamble Road, signifying the boundaries of the school zone. Crosswalks and stenciling will also be painted on the road, and the school will pay the remaining costs of approximately $2,000 for the signs. Mr. Belcher also noted that the Normal Library and School is looking to partner for some services to serve the school and community.

In regular business, the Board approved the financial report for March, 2015, as well as donations of $85.85 from First Federal Bank to purchase mini diplomas for the 2015 Seniors, and $100.00 from Jason Simon for FFA Activities.

The Board agreed to the policy updates from Neola, as well as one year park agreement with the Village of Fayette for the use of the parks, track, concession area, basketball courts and Leonard Morr Field for 2015 – 2016 athletic year in the amount of $3,500.00. The Board entered into a three year contract with Frontier to provide telephone services for the district for a basic monthly service cost of $415.00, effective July 1, 2015.

In staffing moves, the Board agreed to a non-renewal of supplemental one year contracts for 2014-2015. The Board extended two year contracts for Amy Gorsuch as Food Service Director, and Michelle Pilbeam as a full time bus driver, both effective from July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2017.

The Board approved a one year contract for Sue Repp for a part time cafeteria position from July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016, named Ann Schmuck and Andrea MaKula as a part time bus drivers, pending completed paperwork and proper background and reference checks, and brought aboard Scott Wagner as a volunteer baseball coach pending proper background and reference checks.
