Rural Michigan Wreck Claims The Life Of Montpelier Man

RANSOM TOWNSHIP — A two vehicle accident at the intersection of Pioneer Rd. and E. Camden Rd. took the life of Kim A. Cogswell, 49 of Montpelier, Ohio Friday afternoon.

The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash between a semi-truck and dump truck around 11:58 a.m.

Cogswell was southbound on Pioneer Rd., when his truck collided with a 1999 Peterbilt dump truck operated by Ronald Currier, 53, of Delta, Ohio which was westbound on E. Camden Rd.

Currier was transported by Life Flight of Wauseon, Ohio to Mercy St. Vincent’s Hospital in Toledo.

An accident reconstruction expert with the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office worked until late Friday night to determine the cause of the wreck. The roads reopened around 9 p.m. Friday night.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Wright-Waldron Ambulance, Woodbridge Fire Department, Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division, the MSP Aviation Section and Jimmies Wrecker Service, out of Jackson.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office.
