WEAKNESSES: Consistency; turnovers; tackling
SEASON OUTLOOK: “We learned from our 2021 season, and we return experience on both sides of the football. We had some tough games and some close losses last season. Some of our players experienced the varsity field for the first time. We need to be more consistent this year compared to 2021. We are looking forward to that experience paying off this season.”
“Our senior QB (Corey Everetts) is entering his third season as a starter. He makes us go as a team and we rely on him to make plays for us. Overall, we return experience in all areas, and we expect to rely on that for the 2022 season.”
“We return a lot of experience on defense, especially in the secondary and interior. Warren Nichols (LB) and Corey Everetts (DB) were our top tacklers last season and we relied on them to make plays for us defensively. Our overall speed on defense should be improved after the experience we bring back.”
“We want to make sure we are sound tacklers and not giving opposing offenses opportunities to make plays. We spend time every practice working on our tackling technique.”
LEAGUE OUTLOOK: “GMC is always competitive each year. The top two teams last year, Tinora and Antwerp, return players and will be tough league opponents. Every GMC team should be improved from last year. We expect to compete each year in the GMC.”
