Alice Abbott (1927 – 2026)

Alice May (McQuillin) Abbott, age 98, lifelong resident of Delta, Ohio, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 24, 2026, at Ayden of Wauseon.

Alice was born on Aug. 17, 1927, to Clarence and Dessie (Smallman) McQuillin. She was a 1945 graduate of Delta High School and furthered her education at Bowling Green State University.

On Jan. 24, 1953, Alice married her beloved husband, William Abbott. Their life together was one marked by love and shared passions, notably in the realm of competition ballroom dancing. Together, they traveled across the country, courtesy of Bill’s passion as a private pilot, competing in dance competitions that spoke to their joy and artistry.


Alice devoted over four decades of her life as a nurses aide at the Delta Clinic. Her compassionate nature and unwavering dedication to those in her care left a lasting mark on the countless lives she touched.

Alice was the loving matriarch to her family, which includes her children: Corinne Abbott Gage, Fred (Anita) Abbott, Charles (Deb) Abbott and Christine Abbott. She took great pride in her role as a grandmother to Tara (Megan) Wall, Ammon Gage, Billy Abbott, Doug (Lindsay Nash) Abbott, Lisa Abbott, Tiffany (Matt) Lawson, Chas (Amberly) Abbott, Ryan Leitner, Emily Radebaugh and Carly Radebaugh; as well as her great-grandchildren, Aidan Gage, Elle Wall, Liv Wall, Maya, Dylon (Jasmine) Todd, Morgan Todd, Briggs Abbott and Harlow Abbott; and her great-great-grandchildren, Lakeleigh Todd, Kolter Todd and Oliver Wolfrum. Alice is also survived by her brothers, Mark (Kathy) McQuillin and Don McQuillin; sisters, Marcia Miller and Clarice McQuillin; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents, Clarence “Micky” and Dessie McQuillin; and her brothers, Roger, Ramon and Dale McQuillin.


Visitation will be held Monday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Weigel Funeral Home, 400 W. Main Street in Delta, where funeral services will begin at noon. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.
