Alice Sue Rice, 74, longtime resident of Fayette, went to be with her Savior early Thursday morning, October 18, 2018, from the Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, OH. Born April 19, 1944, in Adrian, MI, she was the daughter of the late Orman and Eleanor (Bourn) Tuttle.

Alice lived her formative years in Morenci, where she graduated from high school in 1962, and settled in Fayette for her entire adult life. Family was priority to Alice, and she devoted her life to the welfare of her kids and later her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and needlepoint, and loved to bake goodies for her beloved grandchildren.

An avid reader, she was a regular patron at the Normal Memorial Library. She collected Barbie Dolls, and was a longtime member of the Great Lakes Doll Club in Sterling Heights, MI, where she attended monthly meetings, and served as both a treasurer and table host chairman for the annual Grant-A-Wish Convention, an event that benefits children’s charities. Alice was a woman of deep faith, and worshipped weekly at Solid Rock Community Church in West Unity for over 20 years.

Surviving to mourn her loss are her three daughters, Brenda (Randy) Schang of Fayette, Beth (Wess) Wolf of Morenci, and Julia (Steve) Ruger of Fayette; her son, Jon (Connie) Rice of Sylvania; her sister, Carol Fether of Acworth, GA; nine grandchildren, Andrew (Wendy) Schang, Tasha Wolf, Austin (Naomi) Wolf, Clayton (Sierah) Wolf, Elijah Wolf, Rylee Ruger, Rhys Ruger, Tyler Rice, and Luc Rice; five great-grandchildren, Addison, Dawson, Isaac, Kree, and Lander; and a niece and nephew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two nephews and her brother-in-law.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, October 22, 2018, from 2-8 p.m., at the Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette. A funeral service for Alice will be held on Tuesday, October 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Vic Cales officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette.

To continue her legacy of love of reading and love of children, memorial contributions in honor of Alice are suggested to benefit the Normal Memorial Library or the Grant-A-Wish Fund. Friends can share memories and words of comfort with the family online at www.eaglefuneralhomes.com.
