On Friday, November 11, 2016, many Americans rightfully paid tribute to our Veterans. This was also the case at Wauseon High School that evening as all veterans in attendance we asked to rise. Friday, November 11, 2016, was Veterans Day. In honor of those who served our country, Jim’s Carry Out in Pioneer hosted an event called, “Gas for Vets”. Volunteers from the Pioneer Legion offered their services to community members who stopped in to get petrol. The volunteers not only offered to pump gas and clean windows in turn for monetary donations, they also made and sold apple fritter bread to raise money for an organization called “Stop Soldier Suicide”. Once again Fulton County Christmas Cheer is gearing up to serve the needy families in the county for the holiday season. Over 1,200 families were selected and invited to participate in that annual give-away. Several Vietnam War veterans in Delta finally got to hear the words denied them when they returned to America so many years ago. “Welcome Home.” The American Legion Post 373 of Delta hosted a special Veterans Day weekend event Nov. 13 to honor any veteran of the era. That’s the recommendation from longtime manager Rick Dunbar who is stepping down after 15 years of running the day-to-day operations of the business. The Fulton Board of County Commissioners met Nov. 8 and 10 for its regular meetings. The board took the following actions: Affirmed the county’s desire to participate in the proposed Maumee Valley Brownfields Coalition which purpose is to apply for a $400,000 U.S. EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant for FY2017. The coalition includes Fulton, Defiance, Henry, Paulding and Williams counties.
