EDON (October 11, 2025) – Holgate and Fayette claimed the boys’ and girls’ titles respectively in the Buckeye Border Conference cross country meet held at Walz Park.
The Tigers successfully defended their boys championship with 37 points followed by Fayette (57), Pettisville (71), North Central 81, Montpelier 121, Stryker 149, Hilltop 156, and Edon 163.
Ethan Lee of Fayette captured the individual boys division title with a time of 16:45. Joining the talented Eagles’ junior standout on the first team were Alex Galvin of Pettisville who finished as runner-up in 17:06, Tyler Wilburn of Pettisville was third (17:12), Luke Parsons of Holgate was fourth (17:18), Braylon Leaders of Holgate was fifth (17:23), Carter Fritz of Holgate was sixth (17:32) and Jett Roose of North Central was seventh (17:40).
Second team honors went to Carter Ackley of North Central (8th, 17:48), Koewin Burkhard of Fayette (9th, 18:05), Ethan Walz of Montpelier (10th, 18:20), Zander Distel of Holgate (11th, 18:26), Mason Leininger of Fayette (12th, 18:28), Alex Rupright of Holgate (13th, 18:45) and Corbin Engel of Holgate (14th, 18:51).
Honorable mention honors went to Garrett Stambaugh of Fayette (15th, 19:02), Easton Fidler of North Central (16th, 19:03), Samuel Hartman of Pettisville (17th, 19:23), Talen Reinbolt of North Central (18th, 19:27), Izak Payne of Holgate (19th, 19:28), Dawson Schang of Fayette (20th, 19:30) and Mason Phonephomhom of Montpelier (21st, 19:34).
In the girls’ division, Fayette held off Holgate to claim the title as the Eagles finished with 47 points and the Tigers tallied 55 points. Pettisville was third with 67 points followed by Montpelier (92), Edon (96) and Hilltop (124).

Joining her on the first team were Emily Suydam of Hilltop who was runner-up (21:33), Hannah Fritz of Holgate was third (22:08), Keren Maldonado of Pettisville was fourth (22:11), Kennedy Kunkle of Fayette was fifth (22:29), Grace Davis of Pettisville was sixth (22:37) and Sarah Bok of Holgate was seventh (23:08).
Named to the second team were Aubrey Hoover of Montpelier (8th, 23:17), Graysen Jones of Holgate (9th, 23:41), Kayla Sliwinski of Fayette (10th, 23:56), Libby Bishop of Montpelier (11th, 24:09), Lilyann McBride of Edon (12th, 24:25), Shelby Phillips of Fayette (13th, 24:58) and Leah Roth of Pettisville (14th, 25:19).
Honorable mention honors went to Alexis Engel of Holgate (15th, 25:33), Sophia Loar of Pettisville (16th, 25:56), Brayleigh Herman of Edon (17th, 26:02), Monroe Simon of Fayette (18th, 26:37), Janessa Humbarger of Montpelier (19th, 26:50), Chloie Evilsizor of Edon (20th, 27:19) and Elizabeth Orozco of Holgate (21st, 27:40).
