Betty J. Beck, age 91, of Stryker passed away in her home on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
Prior to her retirement she had worked as a nurse for the Archbold Medical Group for over 40 years. She had also worked at Sauder Historic Village in Archbold for 25 years.
She also helped her husband, H. Warren Beck run the former Beck’s Restaurant in Stryker for many years.
Betty was born in Wauseon, Ohio on June 10, 1933, the daughter of Oscar and Valda (Rohdy) Hildebrant. In 1953 she married Harold Flory and he preceded her in death in 1967, leaving two children.
In 1969 she married H. Warren Beck and he preceded her in death in 2007. She was the Valedictorian of the Stryker High School Class of 1951. She then attended the Toledo hospital School of Nursing.
Betty was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Stryker where she had served on church council. She was also a member of the Stryker Rotary Club where she was a Paul Harris Fellow.
She was also a member of the Bryan Eagles, Stryker Chamber of Commerce, the Archbold Area Women’s Bowling Association, where she was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009, after participating for 50 years, and was a member of the Ohio Womens Bowling Association for 40 years.
She also bowled 25 years with the National W.I.B.C. She also served on the Habitat for Humanity Board in Williams County.
Surviving is her daughter Wendy (Andy) Koch of Stryker, son, Neal (Kathy Blair) Flory of Stryker; grandchildren, Alicia (Glen) Wright, Codi Flower, Casey Flory and Chase (Mishell) Flory. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Blake (Lydia) Flower, Jackson Flower, Beckett Flower and Finnick Flower , Larkin Flory, Isaiah Wright and Ruby Wright; brothers Kenneth Hildebrandt, and sister, Dona George. She was preceded in death by both husbands; brothers, Alden and Robert Hildebrandt; and sisters Norma Stough and Ruthanna Holthues.
Visitation for Betty will be held from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at the First Lutheran Church in Stryker. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 P.M., also in the church, with Pastor Chris Staup and Pastor Dane Meuschke, officiating. Interment will follow in the Pettisville Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be given to the Stryker Rotary Club, the Stryker First Lutheran Church or the Autism Society of Northwest Ohio.
