Beverly “Jean” McNeal (1929-2021)

Beverly “Jean” McNeal, 91, formerly of West Unity and of Bryan, Ohio, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021, at her residence, with her family by her side. Jean was born Aug. 29, 1929, in American Falls, Idaho, the daughter of the late Harvey and Candace (Adams) Beatty.

She married Clinton “Mac” McNeal on Sept. 2, 1951, in Battle Creek, Michigan, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1980. Jean worked in the payroll department at Michigan State University and worked at Mendolson’s Egg Company.

In her free time, Jean enjoyed crafting, crocheting, reading, discussing politics and having coffee with her friends.

Surviving are three children, Scott (Candi Devlaminck) McNeal of Montpelier, Ohio, Melanie McNeal of Bryan, Ohio, and Jay (Shannon) McNeal of Bryan, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Marilyn Lingwood of England and Kathleen McNeal of New Mexico; five grandchildren, Kevin (Dede) McNeal, Brock (Nicki) McNeal, Kelsey (Devin) Shaffer, Clinton “C.J.” Roush and Madison McNeal; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lynda (Don) Piotrowicz of Lansing, Michigan.


Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mac; twin sister, Shelia Joάn Beatty; two sisters, Polly Freeland and Priscilla Carr; and brother, Harvey “Chuck” Beatty.

Graveside funeral services for Beverly Jean McNeal will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity, with Pastor Rick Stiver officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 N. Lynn St., Bryan, Ohio.

The family asks those remembering Beverly to make memorial contributions to ProMedica Home Hospice.
