Buckeye Border Conference Accepting Applications For League Commissioner

(PRESS RELEASE) – The Buckeye Border Conference is on the hunt for a highly professional and organized individual to take on the role of league commissioner.

This pivotal position demands a dynamic leader with strong financial acumen, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage league operations effectively.

Responsibilities of the Commissioner:

-Financial Management: The Commissioner will serve as treasurer, overseeing all financial aspects of the league. This includes ensuring timely payment of invoices, facilitating payment processes, and submitting comprehensive monthly financial reports to the Athletic Director Committee.

-Scheduling Contests: A key responsibility is to coordinate and schedule all league games at least two years in advance, ensuring a smooth and consistent game schedule.

-Hiring Officials: The role involves recruiting and hiring qualified officials for various sports, including volleyball, basketball, baseball, and softball, at both varsity and junior varsity levels. Additionally, the Commissioner will hire officials for junior high and varsity league events, such as track meets and tournaments.

-Awards Management: Managing the selection process for all league awards is crucial, ensuring fairness and transparency.

-News Releases: The Commissioner will draft and distribute league news releases, acting as the primary source for official league communication via social media.

-Records Management: Maintaining accurate records of all league activities, statistics, and historical data is essential.

-Manual of Operations: Collaboration with the Athletic Director Committee is required to recommend updates to the league’s Manual of Operations, covering guidelines for championships, tournaments, and other key procedures.

-Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have proven experience in sports administration, financial management, or a similar role. They also need to possess exceptional organizational, communication, leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including the Athletic Director Committee.

This role is a testament to the Buckeye Border Conference’s commitment to professionalism and the continued success of the league. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply and contribute to the thriving sports community.
