Dorothy Ledyard (1929-2023)

Dorothy K. Ledyard, 93, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Hillside Country Living, Bryan.

Dorothy was born August 17, 1929, in Wauseon, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles W. and Hazel M. (Sinkey) Gross.  She was a 1949 graduate of Bryan High School.

Dorothy married Arnold P. Ledyard on July 23, 1949, in Bryan, and he preceded her in death on September 8, 2018.

She worked as a machine operator at Bryan Custom Plastics for over 35 years.


Dorothy loved her Lord very much and was a member of the Bryan Church of the Nazarene, now known as Lifesource Church of the Nazarene.

Dorothy enjoyed volunteering and helping others whenever the opportunity presented itself and spent many hours with residents at Hillside Country Living and the former Harborside Healthcare Northwest Ohio.

Dorothy also served as a volunteer with the adult literacy program, teaching others to read and write.  Above all, Dorothy enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


Dorothy is survived by her three children, Paul (Patricia) Ledyard of Montpelier, Ohio, Greg (Marcia) Ledyard of Kankakee, Illinois, and Vivian White of Kearny, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Ivan Ballmer of Bryan; and one special cousin, Kathy Wygant of Bryan.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold; one brother, Charles Gross; one sister, Lavina Ballmer; one nephew, Dennis Ballmer; and one grandson, Cody Lee White.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Lifesource Church of the Nazarene, 312 Townline Road  Bryan, Ohio 43506. Private interment will be made in Oak Grove Cemetery, Morenci, Michigan. Services have been entrusted to Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Bryan, Ohio.

Memorial contributions can be directed to the Activity Department at Hillside Country Living, 09876 County Road 16  Bryan, Ohio 43506.
