EVERGREEN BOARD OF EDUCATION: Board Approves Personnel Changes

The Evergreen Board of Education held their meeting on Monday, October 17th. The meeting began at 6:00 p.m. with the board moving to approve the minutes from the previously held meeting on September 19th.

Beth Thomas, from the Fulton County Health Department, then addressed the board regarding the implementation of proposed mental health and education components to curb potential student substance abuse.

The following agenda items were then approved by the board.

The September 2022 financial reports, including the cash reconciliation, financial summary, cash summary, and disbursement summary.

Donations that include $100 from an anonymous donor to the Student Assistance Fund and a $250 gift card donation from Harbor Freight for FFA supplies. The Students for Other Students (SOS) grant for $7,500.00.

An Auxiliary Services Agreement with the Educational Service Center of Lake Erie West for the for the 2022-2023 school year in the amount of $89,444.40 for auxiliary services personnel for the benefit of Holy Trinity School, and to amend resources and modify appropriations accordingly.

Supplemental contracts and approved volunteers for the 2022-2023 school year.

The granting of an Evergreen High School diploma to Tyler Sack who has met all graduation requirements as determined by the high school principal.

A service agreement with New Horizon’s Academy at Sara’s Garden to provide educational services to a special education student for the 2022-2023 school year at a cost of $15,750.00 per semester.

The disposal of obsolete SmartBoards at Holy Trinity Catholic School which had previously been purchased with grant funds in FY09.

The following personnel recommendations were also approved. Rusty Carr and Matt Cymbolin as an EHS & EMS paid and/or volunteer event worker for the 2022-2023 school year.

Tammy Nofziger and Melanie Yoder for additional hours at the contracted rate for time spent in selecting new staff members for the 2022-2023 school year.

The resignation of Pat Adamski, EHS teacher, for the purpose of retirement effective on May 31, 2023.

The resignation of Chris Beck, EES teacher, for the purpose of retirement effective on May 31, 2023.

The resignation of Carrie Brown, transportation coordinator, effective October 28, 2022.

The resignation of Dawn Spradlin, bus driver and cashier, effective October 28, 2022.

Offered Dawn Spradlin a one-year limited non-teaching, non-bargaining unit contract as transportation coordinator, commencing on October 31, 2022.

The board then heard information regarding the progress of the levy renewal. Voting will take place on November 8th and signs are available via Bryon Hansel.

Community conversation meetings will also be taking place.

The 2022-2025 strategic plan was then put forward before then discussing the drug testing policy.

Administrative reports from building principals were then given along with the superintendent report.

Restructuring of the preschool classes will be taking place on November 1st, 2022.

With no other items to attend to, the meeting was adjourned for the evening.
