Former Penta Career Center Teacher Accused Of Sexual Battery Against Northwest Ohio Student

Port Clinton OH – A former teacher at Penta Career Center in Perrysburg Township has been charged with three counts of sexual battery, all third-degree felonies.  Luke Ryan, 37, of Monclova, Ohio, is facing criminal charges after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.

Ryan appeared in count on Monday, October 28 and was released on bond.  According to the Port Clinton News Herald, Ryan had sexual contact with a student at least three times, including twice in December 2014 and again between March and April of 2015.  The Herald also reports that Officials at the school became aware of the incidents in April of this year after meeting with the former student and one of her parents.

On April 2, Ryan was placed on administrative leave.  He later resigned on April 29.

It appears the relationship was consensual and occurred when the student was between 17-18 years old.  Age and consent are irrelevant in this matter because it’s illegal for a teacher to have a sexual relationship with a student.

Ryan is expected back in court on November 6.
