Galen A. Cornell, age 62, of Edon, Ohio, passed away at 11:37 A.M. on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after a brief illness.
Mr. Cornell was a 1980 graduate of Edgerton High School and had been employed by Edgerton Forge, retiring with thirty-two years of service.
He also farmed and operated his own excavating company. He enjoyed taking care of his lawn and riding his 4-wheeler around the farm. Galen was more than just a farmer; he was a gentle steward of his giving land.
Galen A. Cornell was born on March 13, 1961, in Montpelier, Ohio, the son of Alfred R. and Marjorie (Allomong) Cornell.
Survivors include one sister, Marcia Cornell, of Edgerton, Ohio; his companion, Lisa Hug, of Edon; a niece, Teea Vogelsong, in Florida; a nephew Jason Payne, of Montpelier; and three great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton. Services will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Pastor Rick Stiver officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton.
