BASEBALL

North Central 2 Montpelier 0

MONTPELIER – Ethan Beard and Zach Hayes combined to toss a two-hitter to lead the Eagles past Montpleier in a non-league meeting.

Hayes also help provided the offense with an RBI and Sam Wheeler added an RBI double.

Archbold 4 Napoleon 3

NAPOLEON – The Wildcats took the lead with three runs in the third inning and were able to hold off the Bluestreaks in their final at-bat to get the win.


Down 4-1 in the top of the seventh, DJ Newman delivered a two-run single to trim the deficit to 4-3. Archbold would load the bases, but Jack Hurst then hit into a fielder’s choice to end the game.

WEST UNITY – The Cadets struck for seven runs in the first and tacked on another six runs in the third to roll to a 13-2 win. Cameron Schlossed had two singles, two RBIs for Hilltop while Devin Dempsey had a two-run double in the first inning.

PETTISVILLE – The Bulldogs used a four-run fourth and a three-run seventh to overcome seven fielding errors to defeat Pettisville 9-6.

Drew Smigelski had two hits and added three RBIs to pace Swanton.

WAUSEON – Will Sherman fired a complete game as he registered eight strikeouts in Wauseon’s 7-4 win over Fairview.

With the win, Indian head coach Trent Thomas became the all-time winningest coach in the history of the Wauseon baseball program with 165.

ELMORE – The Wildcats totaled just two hits but used 11 walks from the Delta pitching staff to rally for a 6-4 win. Bryce Gillen spearheaded the Panthers offense with a single, double, and a RBI.

Archbold – Reagan Kohler smacked a double, triple, and knocked in a pair of runs in an 8-2 win over the visitors from Edgerton.

Noelle Ritter provided the Bulldog offense with a two-run homer in the sixth inning.

Fairview 4 Wauseon 1

Wauseon – Fairview pitcher Paige Riccia homered in the third and added two more singles and tallied three RBIs on the night for the Apaches in a 4-1 win at Wauseon.

Riccia picked up the win in the circle by going seven innings, allowing four hits, and recording eight strikeouts.

The Indians were able to grab a 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a single by Autumn Pelok, a sacrifice bunt from Bri Hays, and an RBI single by Jayli Vasquez.

WEST UNITY – Lana Baker dominated in the circle and provided firepower at the plate to lead Hilltop to a 17-0 non-league win over Stryker. Baker recorded 12 strikeouts while holding Stryker to just one hit and was 3-4 at the plate with eight RBIs.

ELMORE – Woodmore scored in every inning including five runs in the second and held off a late surge by Delta to grab a 15-7 win. Kate Friess went 4-4 for the Panthers with a RBI and double while Faith Fern was 2-2 with a double.

NAPOLEON – The Golden Bears broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the sixth and scored three more times in the final inning to pull away for a 7-3 victory.

Kailee Thiel led Bryan at the dish with three RBIs and Addie Arnold pitched a complete game while recording 16 strikeouts to earn the win.

MONTPELIER – After falling in a 5-0 hole after one inning, the Locos chipped away to force extra innings where Lindsay Mahan delivered a game winning RBI single for Montpelier.

Madalyn Hopper pitched the final seven innings for Montpelier, limiting the Eagles to just two hits and zero runs.
