 (Delta High School Graduate)

Our dear Mother Jane Meister Simpson, age 88, peacefully entered the gates of Heaven under hospice care Monday afternoon, October 30, 2023.

Jane was surrounded by her family at her farm in the bedroom she was born in on January 5, 1935, the same place her Lord and Savior would call her home. Jane was born to Frank Guy Meister and Marguerite Perkins Meister.

After graduating from Delta High School in 1953, she would attend college in Colorado where she would meet her husband. Jane was united in marriage to John L. Simpson Sr. on December 13, 1956 and together would have four loving children.

She was a wonderful mother who was always active in her children’s lives, Jane served as the PTA president, class mothers, and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. In 1956 moved to Kearny, New Jersey for many years to serve as an insurance underwriter.

Jane moved back to Delta in 1977 and she worked for Stapleton Insurance for many years before serving as secretary at the Delta United Methodist Church for 21 years.

She was a wonderful caregiver for her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her aging parents. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community of Delta where she lived.

Her many hobbies included her monthly attendance at the  Delta Class of 1953 high school reunions, being a talented organist, once an organist at her church, enjoying history being a proud member of the Daughters of the Revolution, writing the genealogy of the Meister, Tedrow, Perkins and Phare families and how she  learned her family were some of the first settlers in 1834 at Lauber Hill in Fulton County, and donated many of her ancestors belongings to the Museum of Fulton County, she was also known for her award-winning lemon meringue pies.

Left to carry on her memory are her children, John (Tonya) Simpson Jr of Florida, Jeffrey (Carla) Simpson of Minnesota, Frank (Rose) Simpson of Delta and Anne (Steven) Kuras of Springfield Twp; grandchildren; Erica (John) Martin, Alexander Simpson, Annika Simpson, Qadan Simpson, Aigul Simpson, Mara Simpson Farley Campbell, Frank (Melody)A. Simpson Jr, Anthony (Ashley) Simpson, Stephanie (Joey) Kuras – Cook, Kristen (Benjamin) Chew, Lauren Kuras, and 10 great grandchildren, sister, Carol Hayes of Wauseon, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband John L. Simpson Sr in March 2003, and grandson, John L. Simpson III in August 2005.  Jane’s loving heart led her to donate her body to anatomical studies, where her earthly body can lead to further medical advancements and education in the medical field.

Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Delta Fire and Rescue, 500 Main St., Delta, Ohio 43515 in her name. Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com
