Jeannine A. Bates, age 79, of Morenci, passed away in her home on Sunday morning, May 31, 2015.
Jeannine was born in Wauseon on April 20, 1936, the daughter of James and Alberta Etta (Eicher) Croninger. On August 19, 1956 she married Alvin F. Bates, and he preceded her in death in 1988. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Burlington and a devout member of the church choir. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading, needlepoint, crocheting and sewing.
Surviving is one daughter, Theresa (Thomas) Pobanz of Morenci; four sons, Frank (Lorena) Bates of Lawton, OK, Fred (Deb) Bates of Wauseon, Jonathan (Jacqueline) Bates and James (Jill) Bates, both of Fayette. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gwen Kruse of Archbold. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, Ralph H. Croninger.
Visitation for Jeannine will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, at St. James Lutheran Church in Burlington, with the Rev. James Strawn, officiating. Interment will be in the Butler Cemetery, near Chesterfield.
