Larry D. Clappe

Larry ClappeLarry D. Clappe, 67 years, of Bryan, Ohio passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, Defiance. Larry was born March 12, 1949 in Bryan, Ohio, the son of the late Darwin and Isabelle (West) Clappe. He was a 1967 graduate of Bryan High School. Larry served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He married Susan F. Chapman on August 11, 1979 in Bryan, Ohio. Larry worked at ARO Corporation in Customer Service Repair for over 30 years, retiring in 2009. Larry and his wife Susan are members of First Presbyterian Church in Bryan. He was a former member of the Bryan Eagles and a member of the Bryan VFW Post 2489. In his free time, Larry enjoyed studying history of forts and different wars.

Surviving is his wife, Susan of Bryan, Ohio; two sons, Wesley Clappe of Bryan, and Vincent Clappe of Bryan; two sisters, Carolynne “Kay” (Gerald) Foust of Bryan and Nancy (Gary) Olix of Chardon, Ohio, and one brother, James “Jim” (Deb) Clappe of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Larry was preceded in death by his parents.

 Visitation for Larry D. Clappe will be held Friday, July 29, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home-Greenisen Chapel, 225 East High Street, Bryan. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Barry Sweet officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan. Military graveside rites will be performed by the Bryan VFW Post 2489.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church,506 Oxford Drive, Bryan, Ohio or Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, 6817 North State Route 66, Defiance, Ohio 43512
