Larry L. Noffsinger (1939 – 2015)

Larry L Noffsinger WEBLarry L. Noffsinger, age 75 of Defiance, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice. He retired in 2003 from Johns-Manville in Defiance. Prior to that he had worked at Dinner Bell Foods in Defiance, Werlor Hauling in Defiance and had also been a Deputy Sheriff for Defiance County.

Larry was born in Bowling Green on April 21, 1939, the son of Harry H. and Margaret (Strayer) Noffsinger. On June 21, 1959 he married Nancy Potts, and she survives. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Defiance, Omega #564 F & A.M. in Defiance, the Defiance Eagles FOE #372, a social member of the Defiance VFW Post 3360, and the Defiance Elks B.P.O.E. Lodge 147.

Larry will be remembered for his love of music, which started at an early age. Larry loved playing trumpet and played “Taps” for countless Veteran funeral services through the VFW. He started playing “Taps” when still in high school and continued his entire life until just a few years ago. He had also played in Bud Widmer’s Rube Band, the Oakwood Community Band and Red Hageman’s Band.

Surviving besides his wife, Nancy, are two sons, Jeff (Donna) Noffsinger of Denver, CO, Gregg Noffsinger of Defiance; daughter, Amy (Mike) Jack of Angola, IN; grandchildren, Cody Jack, Tiffany (Nick) Wolf and Nicholas Noffsinger; and great-grandchildren, Madison and Skyler Jack. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ann Hallard, and brothers-in-law, Roger Hallard and Tom Potts.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, the Wounded Warrior Project, or Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com. Grisier Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with arrangements.
