Napoleon, Ohio – One area dentist is redefining the phrase “put your money where your mouth is.” This Halloween, trick-or-treaters can sell their excess candy to Dental Excellence of Napoleon in support of our troops overseas.

Dr. Michael Carpenter will give away dollar bills in exchange for cavity-provoking candy. The candy will then be donated to Operation Gratitude for distribution to service men and women deployed in harm’s way. Last year, Dr. Carpenter and his staff collected over 200 pounds of candy for our troops.

Children can bring their bags of unopened Halloween candy to the Dental Excellence of Napoleon office at 610 Broadmoor Avenue on Thursday, November 3rd between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dr. Carpenter will pay one dollar per pound of candy, up to $10. He will also accept candy donations above the ten-pound payout, and will give away $50 for the individual who donates the most candy overall. The office will also be accepting additional care items such as scarves, small stuffed animals, socks, lip balm, DVDs and CDs, and letters of appreciation. Tax deductible donations may be made out to “Operation Gratitude”.

Dr. Carpenter is also encouraging schools to get involved and is awarding $100 for the school with the most candy dropped off by its students.

“We love the idea of keeping children’s teeth clean and healthy while bringing a smile to our troops,” said Dr. Carpenter. “We’re planning a fun event with snacks, games, face painting, an opportunity for children to meet a real soldier and write letters and cards of appreciation for the troops, and more.”

Operation Gratitude is a national non-profit organization created to lift morale by sending care packages to U.S. troops stationed around the world. The organization encourages anyone who has a family member or friend deployed overseas to request a care package on the Operation Gratitude website. Family members and supporters can visit www.OperationGratitude.com to share contact information or learn how they can support the troops.

Dental Excellence of Napoleon is a general and family practice offering advanced services such as pediatric, cosmetic and sedation dentistry.

For additional information on the candy buyback program or the dental practice, call Dental Excellence of Napoleon at (877) 331-9188 or visit their website at www.TheNapoleonDentist.com
