Unemployment numbers for March 2025 were recently released by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
The latest data shows slight shifts across the region, with some counties seeing small improvements while others experienced increases.
Fulton County reported an unemployment rate of 6.4% for March, marking a minor improvement from February’s rate of 6.6%. Williams County remained steady at 5.4%, showing no change from the previous month.
Neighboring counties presented mixed outcomes. Henry County saw its unemployment rate rise from 7.1% in February to 7.9% in March. In contrast, Lucas County experienced a notable improvement, dropping from 7.1% to 6.5%.
Defiance County reported an unemployment rate of 5.3% for March, slightly up from 4.8% in February. Wood County showed a modest improvement, moving from 5.1% down to 4.9%. Ottawa County, which consistently records some of the higher unemployment rates in the region, came in at 8.5% in March, down from February’s 9.3%.
At the state level, Ohio’s unemployment rate for March was 5.1%, a slight improvement from February’s 5.4%. Nationally, the United States unemployment rate declined to 4.2%, down from 4.5% the month prior.
