Norma Jean Ducat, 55, of Pioneer, OH, died Friday morning, February 10, 2017, at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance, following a long battle with Ovarian Cancer. She was born August 2, 1961, in Wauseon, OH, to Earl O. and Reta L. (Hite) Lee. They preceded her in death.
Norma lived her early life in the rural Fayette and Morenci area and attended the Evergreen School District, where she graduated high school in 1979. She worked for over 25 years at the former German Village Products in Wauseon, and after their closing, worked at A & A Inventory in Liberty Center, OH until her leave due to declining health.
Norma was an avid reader and enjoyed watching daytime soap operas and crime shows. Her greatest love was her family, and she loved being in their company at reunions and cookouts during the year. She was a member of the Alvordton United Brethren Church, and was involved in many of the activities that her church provided.
Surviving are her daughter, Shannon (John) Schuller of Alvordton; son, Stephen Ducat (and Carmela Cerda) of Archbold, OH; a sister, Isabel (Glen) Handy of North Adams, MI; two brothers, Larry Lee of Pioneer and Allen Lee of Alvordton; her grandchildren, Cari, Chauna and Caylee Whitman, and Wyatt Cerda; special friends Josh (Kari) Lett; and her beloved canine companions, Snickers and Princess. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl “Hank” and Robert Lee.
A funeral service for Norma will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette with Pastor Dan VanArsdalen officiating. Cremation will follow with interment at a later date in Winameg Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday for two hours preceding the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
