WAUSEON – Wauseon closed out its regular season in impressive fashion with a 56-0 whitewashing of winless Swanton, in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League finale for both teams.
Eight different players scored at least one touchdown for the Indians (2-8, 2-5 NWOAL) including a blocked punt return by Clete Van Etten and an 85-yard interception return by Xzavier Molina both coming in the opening quarter.
Also scoring for the Indians were Tyler Rodriguez who caught a four-yard TD pass from quarterback Kahle Albright. Thad Reckner (4-yard run), Landon Ballard (16-yard run), Albright (10-yard run), A’Zarrion Hicks (4-yard run) and Brady McGuire (23-yard run).
Ballard led a balanced ground attack for Wauseon with 53 yards on five carries. McGuire tallied 49 yards on six carries, and Hicks added 40 yards on six carries. The Indians outgained the Bulldogs, 294-97, in total offense.
Dennis Robinson completed 8 of 23 passes for 63 yards to lead Swanton (0-10, 0-7 NWOAL) who has now dropped 37 consecutive regular season games, which is also the longest losing streak in Ohio.
