Paula Jean Luke, 56, of Montpelier, died Thursday morning at home surrounded by her family. She was born on August 25, 1957 in Bryan Ohio to Lawrence and Jean (Schindler) Ewers. Paula graduated from Montpelier High School in 1975. On October 22, 1976 she married Rodney M. Luke at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan, Ohio.

Paula was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montpelier. Paula was a former bank teller at the National Bank of Montpelier for over 20 years. She was also a past member of the Montpelier School Board and a mentor at Montpelier Schools for many years. Paula enjoyed playing church league softball, running half and whole marathons, and supporting all of her family’s school activities, both sports and academic.
Paula is survived by her husband Rodney, mother Jean Ewers, three sons, Jeff (Amy) Luke of South Lyon, Michigan, Adam (Lisa) Luke of Olathe, Kansas, Erik (Kelly) Luke of Kettering, Ohio; five grandchildren Connor, Taylor, Ethan, Reagan and Logan; three brothers, Chuck (Diana) Ewers of Montpelier, Steve (Cecilia) Ewers of Brookville, Ohio, Ed (Kristen) Ewers of Montpelier; three sisters, Deb (Jeff) Clark of Pioneer, Sandy (Brian) Burcham of Richmond Virginia, and Martha (Ty) Daniel of Ney Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her father Lawrence Ewers on March 10, 2013.

Visitation for Paula will be Sunday, April 21st from 12-7pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier, with a Rosary Service to be held at 7 pm. Services will be Monday at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montpelier with Father Fred Duschl and Pastor Dan Gallagher to officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. Donations may be made to Cancer Assistance of Williams County or Donor’s choice.
