Thelma Marie (Heer) BartleyThelma Marie (Heer) Bartley, age 78, left this earth and went to her home in heaven on Wednesday May 18, 2016. Thelma was a longtime resident of Stryker. She was employed by the Metal Forge Co. in Stryker until its closing in 1999. She then worked for the Sauder Heritage Inn in Archbold through March 2016 when her cancer returned for the third time.

Thelma was born in Tiffin Township, Defiance County, Ohio on April 22, 1938 the daughter of the late Ernest and the late Alma (Schnur) Heer. Thelma was a graduate of the S.H.S. Class of 56, and was looking forward to her 60th class reunion. She was a member of the St. John’s Christian Church in Archbold where she taught the two year-old Sunday School class for many years. Thelma had also been an avid bowler at Arch Lanes. She not only received many awards for her bowling skills, but she also served many years in the leadership of the bowling association.

Surviving is daughter; Kelly (Greg) Mahlman of Maumee, three grandsons; Andrew, Jordan and Nathan Mahlman, brother; Lowell (Roxy) Heer, sister; Lois Keith and sister-in-law; Barb Heer, nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents were infant daughter, Karen Kay Bartley and brother, Charles Heer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday May 24, 2016 at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker with Rev. Erich Christman officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker from 3:00-7:00pm on Monday.


In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be given to either, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, St. John’s Church Christian Church or Sauder Village. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.GrisierFH.com.
