West Unity Business Owner Speaks To Omnibus Club

November 1, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

(PRESS RELEASE) – The Omnibus Club met October 14 for lunch at Mill District Deli with fourteen members who answered the roll call of “What is your favorite sandwich.” Reuben’s were a favorite.

They enjoyed the delicious food available at the Deli. Dawn Clendenen and Vickie Durling were welcomed as new members.

The owner, Jason King spoke about the business and answered questions. The Kings opened their first business in town as The Sleep Shop. After attending a trade show in Atlanta they were inspired to open a Christmas Shop. It was located at the former library building and named The Holly Jolly Christmas Shop.

They opened their furniture store and after 24 years closed it to pursue Christmas Shops in many downtown store fronts. Each shop is unique and Gertudes Goodies features yummy treats.

This year an ice rink has been added for the enjoyment of the youth. Passes have been issued to students from Fulton and Williams counties. This type of rink is popular in Germany, etc. It was shipped here from Switzerland.

A refreshment area is nearby and features S-mores, grills coffee and other special treats. Future plans include a live Nativity, singing groups and other Holiday Events.

Jason focused on their desire to help the town grow and become a true Christmas destination. This is becoming a reality now.

The club will begin planning for their annual Craft Show on Saturday December 7 at the Kissell building in West Unity and lunch will be available. Contact Ruth Grimm for information securing a booth at 419-924-5238.
