WEST UNITY – Like a scene out of a dime store western, the Hilltop Cadets and the Stryker Panthers went at each other in a last-man-standing slugfest on May 9. The quickest to the hip to draw and shoot was usually the winner, and with the Cadet Cadre it was the same way. Before the Panther Pack got their offense in gear, Hilltop was already up by a 7-1 score, and the Cadets held out for a 13-11 BBC win.
Jalen Towers went 5 2/3 innings for Hilltop, allowing 6 runs, 5 earned on 12 hits and 2 walk, fanning 4. Jesse Westfall finished, but was tagged for 5 runs on 5 hits and a walk along the way, striking out 2.[emember_protected custom_msg=”Full content protected for online subscribers. Jeremiah Garza allowed 11 runs, 6 earned on 10 hits and 5 walks over 4 2/3 innings for Stryker, fanning 3. Jacob Hancock finished, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks, striking out 2.
