Since 1998, Veterans have been making the ride to Washington DC every Memorial Day weekend to demonstrate and bring attention to the POW/MIA situation.

This year American Legion Riders Post #669 out of West Unity sent a group of 17 to what may be the final Rolling Thunder Run.

The Rolling Thunder XXXII First Amendment Demonstration Run starts at the North Pentagon parking lot, and travels across the Memorial Bridge, towards the Lincoln Memorial, around the National Mall stopping at the West Potomac Park. It got it’s name from the “rolling thunder” sound that was made crossing the bridge.

“It was an amazing experience to be a part of” said Kevin Oxender of Pioneer. “A proper Welcome Home and honor to our fallen and Vietnam Vets.” “There was over a million motorcycles there!” The event has grown larger each year, organizers plan to hold smaller Memorial Day weekend programs in individual states, starting in 2020 and make this years’ national run its last.
