PIONEER: April 21 – The Edon Lady Bombers had a flair for the dramatic on April 21 as they took on their BBC rivals, the North Central Lady Eagles. They held a 2-0 lead until the bottom of the fourth when the hometown girls tied the game. An inning later, North Central added another two, expanding the lead to 4-2.

The Lady Bomber bats went silent after the third inning, but with just three outs remaining, they went into rally mode. With a pair of runners on, Haley Jacoby hit a pop foul. The ball was dropped in foul territory, giving the senior Lady Bomber another life…and she made North Central pay for it. Two pitches later, Jacoby was on her way to second after a bases-clearing hit that tied the game at 4-4. The Belles in Bomber Blue retained the momentum into the eighth where they added another two onto the scoreboard for a come-from-behind 6-4 win.

Kaitlin Chrisman went the route for Edon, allowing 4 runs, 2 earned on 10 hits, striking out 4. She also contributed an RBI single at the plate.

Alex Kiess had a pair of singles for Edon, with Nicole Newell getting a double, and Elisa Zulch adding a pair of singles and an RBI.

Reese Cogswell went the first 3 innings for North Central, and was tagged for 2 runs, one earned on 3 hits and 2 walks, whiffing a batter. Makayla Hayes went the final 5 innings and was charged with 4 runs, 3 unearned on 5 hits, a walk and a hit batter, fanning 5.

Cogswell plated 3 runs on a pair of singles, Abbey Litzenberg had a pair of doubles, and Sabrina Pickford had a single and a double. Rachel Oxender had a pair of base hits, and Hayes and Tristin Tomblin each had a single.
