The Metamora Historical Society met with the public on Monday, September 27th at the Evergreen Community Library. Longtime residents came in for a meet and greet with the public to tell their stories of time spent in Metamora.

The Metamora Historical Society is an organization that tries to preserve and protect history in the area of Metamora. The society also creates displays at the library that reflect the history of the area.

Displays will change from time to time in order to continuously show more history to residents and visitors of the library. Currently, the display is a timeline of the Village of Metamora which goes hand in hand with the visitors for the event.

Numerous items are on display from different time periods including The Civil War, Native American Artifacts and World War II.

On Monday, more than 50 people came to the library to hear several longtime residents tell their stories. Some of those residents are over 90 years old with one of them, Alice Doyle, turning 100 years old this November.

Numerous stories were told from these women with members of the audience also telling some stories as well. Everyone that came to the event enjoyed themselves and learned a little bit more about the community that they call home.
