Wauseon Boys Defeats Bryan And Springfield, Girls Beat Springfield In Tri-Meet

(January 15th, 2015) – WAUSEON: The boys and girls Wauseon Swim and Dive Teams invited both Bryan and Springfield High Schools into the pool, as the three schools competed in a tri-meet.

The Indian boys took the meet cleanly, beating both Bryan and Springfield.

Wauseon took first place in the 200 medley relay, with the team of Nick Dilworth, Kyle Zirkle, Mac Warncke, and Derek Rupp taking the race at 1:59.55. Dilworth also claimed first place at the 200 meter freestyle with a time of 1:57.31, while teammate Quintin Reiser earned third place thanks to his time of 2:16.11. Austin Schuette took first place at the 200 IM with at 2:21.03, with Warncke finishing in second place due to his time of 2:28.44.

In the 50 freestyle, Rupp was awarded first place by finishing at 24.98. Schuette won the 100 freestyle race at 54.49. Dilworth again took home first place honors, this time in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:11.93.


The team of Warncke Seth Hutchison, Rupp, and Schuette earned a victory in the 200 freestyle relay at 1:41.38. In the 400 freestyle relay, Rupp Hutchison, Schuette, and Dilworth combined to win the 440 freestyle relay with a time of 5:43.98.

For the diving portion of the competition, Cody Fry achieved victory at the event. Teammate Tony Schweinhagen came in third place.

The Lady Indians also laid claim to a win at the meet, but only against Springfied, as Wauseon took second place overall.


The 200 medley relay team of Emily Bray, Harley Serres, Kate Precht, and Amanda Stutzman earned a second place finish thanks to a time of 2:16.55. Kasey Darnell took second place in the 200 freestyle at 2:05.39. Sydney Darnell was awarded second place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.68.

Darnell finished in first place at the 100 fly, completing the race at 1:01.43. Kasey Darnell earned a first place finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:27.15. Alexys Carteaux, Alexis Meyer, and Kasey and Sydney Darnell joined forces to win the 200 freestyle relay at 1:45.61. That same team also claimed victory at the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:52.78.

In the 100 backstroke, Meyer finished in second place at 1:13 flat. Serres took second place in the 100 breaststroke, thanks to her time of 1:23.4.

Lady Indian divers Carteaux, Jenna Rhoads, and Patience Bachman finished in first, second, and third places, respectively.
