METAMORA VILLAGE COUNCIL: Council Discusses Sewer Credits

The Metamora Village Council held their meeting on Monday, October 17th. The meeting began at 8:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes were then approved from the meeting that took place on October 3rd as well as the list of bills as presented.

Next, council moved to approve the annual sewer credits for 2022 before moving on to hear the Lands and Building report.

It was decided by council, that residents who would like a sewer credit for their extra water use, would need to buy their own second meter to get the credit.

Maintenance employees will read the meter and the office will determine the credit due which will be refunded by the county.

The rules were then suspended by council to pass Ordinance 2022-13 for the ODOT Municipal Bridge Inspection Program.

The village is looking into doing a sidewalk replacement grant for village residents who need their sidewalks repaired and or replaced. $5,000.00 is budgeted this year for sidewalk repairs.

Council agreed that sidewalks the village is responsible for will be repaired first. Next year, the option is there for council to budget money to help residents with sidewalks they are responsible for.

A motion was made and approved to spend $5,000.00 this year on sidewalk repairs and to hire Buckeye Concrete to fix as many sections as possible with the funds.

DGL Consulting Engineer’s has been hired to survey the reservoirs. This will be done within the next two to three weeks.

In old business, council moved to approve Ordinance 2022-12 to revise Codified Ordinance Section #955-Parks.

In new business, council moved to waive the hearing as provided by the county auditor and to accept the sum of $27,463.54 for the undivided local government fund for the 2023 budget.

The rules were then suspended by council to pass the following resolution and ordinances.

Ordinance 2022-14 to establish the local fiscal recovery fund and affirming that funds received by the village pursuant to the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, shall be used only to cover costs incurred by the village consistent with the requirements of the act. Resolution 2022-15 to adopt a plan under the Ohio Public Employees Deferred Compensation Program for new enrollment for village workers Anthony and Kyle.

Ordinance 2022-16 amending 2022 appropriations and approving 2022 transfers for the Village of Metamora during the fiscal year ending December 31, 2022, 3rd quarter July through September.

Moving to the fiscal officer’s report, maintenance employees were given compliments from residents that they are doing a great job.

Council then moved to enter into executive session at 8:42 p.m. Upon council’s return from executive session at 8:48 p.m. the Sheriff’s report for September was reviewed.

With no other items to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:49 p.m.
