On November 5, 2022, the Girl Scout Service Unit 131 held their second Daddy-Daughter dance from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Held in the Gillette Building at the Williams County Fairgrounds, the dance had a theme of “Aloha”.
Blue tablecloths and LED lights covered the tables while tropical decorations could be scene throughout the building.
Turnout for the dance was nearly doubled with 234 guests in attendance. As turnout continued to grow, the previous location at the Moose Family Center was no longer an option.
Originally, the price to rent the Gillette Building was six hundred dollars, but the fair board made a decision to change the rules, allowing Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts using the fairgrounds for free.
Although money for decorations was covered through left over funds from the Daddy-Daughter Dance in 2021, there were multiple donations made.
Bryan Theater provided popcorn, Cheesebox Photography donated her services for the event, two Girl Scout Troops from Williams County created crafts for the girls to make and bring home.
Other funds came from the $25 dollar entry fee to the dance. Money raised and left over from the dance will go into future Girl Scout events and needs.
Cheesebox Photography is owned by Jessica Faber and is in Bryan. Faber not only donated her photography services, but also allowed everyone in attendance the opportunity to use a link to download their pictures for free.
Many guests took pictures in front of a gorgeous waterfall and a small surfer wave.
Snacks and drinks were provided by Girl Scout Troops in Williams County and included donuts topped with pineapple, cookies, hula skirt rice crispy treats, lemonade and water.
A dance is not complete without a great DJ, for the Girl Scout Daddy Daughter Dance this was provided by DJ company Four Of A Kind Entertainment out of Montpelier.
Many new hits were played as well as slow ones for the dads to have that special moment with their daughter.
Last year, the dance was brought to life with a goal of bringing family’s together to relax.
During an interview with Service Unit Chair, Nichole Bear, she shared, “We wanted to offer something for family’s to be able to go to and have an enjoyable evening and not have to worry about their cares and everything else going on.”
Bear added, “We wanted to be able to get the girls and their dads out there and just relax and have that bonding time.”
Bear went on to share, “We plan to continue holding father daughter dances every year as long as people are willing to come.”
“We have heard such good things, the dads really enjoy being able to go out and have an evening with their girl, and that’s what were really here for.”
