REPORT CFOTreasurer Matt Feasel delivers his financial report to the Pike Delta York Board of Education during the August 9th 2023 meeting

The Pike-Delta-York Board of Education held its meeting on Wednesday, August 9th. The meeting began at 6:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Board members first moved to approve the minutes from the July 19th board meeting before hearing correspondence from board member Daniel Elliott.
Mr. Elliott stated that a list of complaints had been received from an individual concerning the association of the Lifewise Academy and the Pike-Delta-York Elementary School this year.
The comments will be taken and looked at accordingly. Superintendent Johnathan Burke then stated that he does not feel as though there is any violation being made when it comes to school board policy and that they are planning on giving the program a shot.
The treasurer’s report was then heard with the following items being discussed. An advance on the real estate taxes was a little more than projected. This, however, was different for income tax received which was slightly lower than expected.
The projected amount was $918,000 and what was received was $907,000. This was not a significant change but there are plans to look into what was projected versus what was collected.
Investments are doing well with some revisions planned. The state foundation is still funding at last year’s levels due to not receiving its numbers as of yet. It is likely the amount will not change for another couple of months.
Expenditures are looking true to what was projected and an analysis on the income tax was included in board member packets.
Board members moved to approve the Financial Director’s report before moving on to hear a report from the Superintendent.
Mr. Burke presented several personnel recommendations and rates of pay for substitutes. A recommendation was also given to approve the 2023-2024 LPDC Handbook, a course name change from Math Modeling and Reasoning to Advanced Quantitative Reasoning, and an overnight trip for Amy Bostwick, Zachary Karpuszka, Daniel Schultz, and the Delta HS Band/Choir.
The overnight trip will be to Disney World from March 7th through the 11th in 2024. The band will parade through the Magic Kingdom once the audition video is accepted. The Choir will participate in a workshop.
The superintendent’s report was then approved by the board who then moved on to hear building reports.
Middle School Principal Shawn Murphy stated that he is excited about the school’s new hires and that they are a group of talented people who will add value to the community.
Elementary Principal Ellen Bernal spoke next and stated that interviews have been taking place to fill positions that are from last-minute resignations.
Teachers have been getting their classrooms ready for what is currently set at 370 students coming to start the new school year.
With nothing more to discuss the board moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:47 p.m.
