(April 16th, 2015) – EDON: The Bomber boys successfully defended their home field against the visiting Eagles of North Central. Edon singled the Eagles to defeat, as all seven of the home team’s hits only took their hitters to first base.

Still, the Bombers generated enough offense to earn a 9-1 win over North Central.

The scoring started early in the contest, as the Eagles brought home the first run in the top half of the opening inning. Edon was quick to answer, however, providing 2 runs of their own at the bottom of the first to counter. After a scoreless second inning, the Bomber offense exploded in the bottom of the third inning. They put up 5 runs before returning control of the batter’s box to North Central.

The fourth and fifth innings were uneventful, as no one managed to add to their respective totals on the scoreboard. Then, in the bottom of the sixth, Edon tacked on another 2 runs to their score, securing the 8 run victory.

Heath Brown had little trouble seeing the ball from the plate for the Bombers, making contact on 3 of his attempts. Each of his hits were singles, as the senior drove in 2 RBIs. Another Edon senior, Floyd Young, also hit for a single, bringing home 2 RBIs as well. Sophomore Braden Miller hit for a pair of singles.

Jordan Reeves, an Eagle senior, led the North Central bats with a double. Freshman Josh Bailey added a single for the only other Eagle hit of the game.

In four innings of pitching, Edon’s Landon Bloir was exceptional. Striking out 9 and only walking 2, the junior standout gave up no earned runs and no hits. Hayden Runyan came in for relief in the final three innings.

Reeves had a rough day on the mound. The senior pitcher allowed 5 earned runs on 5 hits in three innings. He also struck out 2 batters, walking 1. Steven Williams and David Pinc took their turns in relief.

The win improves Edon’s record to 5-3 on the season, with a 2-1 mark in Buckeye Border Conference play. North Central falls to 3-6.
