RECORD SETTING SEASON… The junior high cross country team brought a lot of excitement to the Bryan City Board of Education meeting on November 6, 2023, as it was shared they had a record setting season, ending at 198-5 as well as coming out on top at the state competition.

The Bryan City Board of Education met on November 6, 2023 for their regular meeting. The minutes from the October 9, 2023 regular and October 18, 2023 special meetings were approved with one attendance correction.
Then, the spotlight was shone on the JH cross country team and the high school cross country and golf teams for qualifying for state.
The JH cross country team was lauded for their winning the state championship in a “nail biting” competition, with the final score coming down to the last 200 meters. They have had a record setting season, with 198 wins to just 5 losses.
Details on that week’s Souper Bowl were then given, before it was shared that Four County has been awarded funding to expand their campus, with member Camarillo sharing that they have been having to turn away as high as 60% of applicants to certain programs in recent years.
The elementary school has been hard at work with parent teacher conferences, as well as with preparation for the Veterans’ Day assembly.
The elementary schoolers have been preparing for the season of giving with the high schoolers getting a Mana Food Project and Bear Bag drive going.
The high school has also been working on community outreach, and student career readiness with a Women in STEM event at Bowling Green and tours of Four County Career Center.
Parent teacher conferences have come and gone, and there will be more fundraisers and a college and career day in the near future.
Discussion was then held on the Student Business Advisory Council’s recent endeavors before the treasurer’s report was given.
Included in this report were donations from the Class of 2012 Football Team in Memory of Kody Kuckuck ($850), BAF George Azar and Mary Ide Isaac Memorial Fund ($4,354,74), Football Parents (charter bus transportation), and Bryan American Legion (American flags for the BCS district).
The superintendent’s recommendations were approved as presented, including the annual SRO contract and 2023-2024 graduate list.
Legislation for bylaw and policy updates, administrative guidelines, and forms were handed out to the board and approved for their first reading, and it was shared that the School Board Association Capital Conference will be November 12-14, 2023, and the next board meeting will be December 11, 2023 at 6 p.m. before the board entered into executive session at 7:14 p.m.
