The Blakeslee Village Council met on December 6, 2023 at 6 p.m.  Present were Councilors Robert Mohre, Rosemary Radabaugh, Shelly Cox, Nick Reed, and Eric Jenkins.

They were joined by Fiscal Officer Courtny Osborn, Police Chief Randy Mohre, and Mayor Cody Reynolds, who presided over the meeting.

The minutes of the November meeting were approved as presented before the monthly financial reports were also approved as presented, with receipts listed at $3,222.36 and payments at $4,613.36.

With no visitors to address, council then moved on to legislative matters.

The owners of the problem canine brought to the attention of council last meeting have since been notified and reportedly have been doing well at keeping better track of him.

A motion was carried unanimously to raise residents’ annual garbage bill from $185 in 2023 to $190 in 2024 to account for the 3% price increase seen by ARS.

A motion was carried approving the partnership for snow removal services with Brandt Thiel for 2024.

Discussion was then held on hazard concerns presented by the building that used to serve the village as a bike shop, with solutions being looked into.

The Christmas Parade is being held December 16, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. There will be chili, hot chocolate, and Santa will be there to greet all the kids.

The Blakeslee Knights of Columbus were thanked for their sponsorship and support of this parade and everything else they do for the community.

It was shared that an increase in the street repair budget was being made to account for new concrete necessary at “the street behind Sam’s place.”

Council and the mayor were then presented with their annual pay before it was shared that a restructuring of council will take place at the January meeting, “as no one was on the November ballot, council members will be appointed and a mayor will be appointed. Further information will be discussed at the January meeting, along with approval of the 2024 budget.”

The next meeting will take place January 3, 2024, at 6 p.m.
