(May 12th, 2015) – ARCHBOLD: With the North Western Ohio Athletic League (NWOAL) track meet consisting of so many athletes, a preliminary round is needed just to ensure they all have a fair chance to compete. In this early round, all specialty events, as well as the 4X800 meter relay took place exclusively.

Wauseon put themselves in a great position to claim a league title, finishing the day in second place with 46.5 points. Also putting in a respectable effort was Montpelier, whose 17 points were enough to secure sixth place overall.

The 4X800 meter relay team of Aleea Volkman, Aneesa Volkman, Avery Giguere, and Taylor Vernot earned Wauseon second place in the race. The Indian girls finished the event in 10:01.69, less than 10 seconds behind first place finisher Liberty Center. Fourth place was claimed by the Montpelier squadron of McKenna Quaderer, Breanna Stein, Aubree Moss, and Jacqueline Carlson at 11:07.68.

Sydney Bosell took home fourth place in the high jump for the Lady Indians, working her way over the bar at 4’08”. Also representing Wauseon was Amy Bosell, who tied for sixth place with a 4’08” jump as well.

Third place in the long jump went to Seneca Wyse, of Wauseon. Her leap of 15’09.5” was less than 2 inches away from giving her second place. Fellow Indian Amanda Stutzman earned thirteenth place with a jump of 13’08.75”. Lady Locomotive jumper Stacie Moor finished in sixteenth place at 10’10.75”.

In the pole vault, Wauseon sophomore McKayla Campbell finished in sixth place, clearing the bar at 7’06”. Coming in tenth place was her teammate, Samantha Gray, who successfully completed a vault of 7′ to do so.

Montpelier senior Baylee Hageman earned a victory in the shot put, throwing for 37’09.5”. Sally Frank, of Wauseon, took fourth place in the event, tossing the shot 33’00.75”. Sixth place was picked up by Lady Indian junior Kallie Strauss, thanks to her throw of 31’11.75”. Loco girl Hannah Blake registered a toss of 24’09”.

Frank assumed first place in the discuss, as the Wauseon senior launched the disc 117’05”. Her teammate, Mirian Triana, recorded a throw of 105’05” to receive fifth place. Hageman netted Montpelier seventh place with a toss of 94’03”, while fellow Locomotive Blake laid claim to ninth place 89’07”.

With several athletes on site, Wauseon built a solid foundation on which to make a run at an NWOAL title with their performances in the preliminaries. Montpelier didn’t have those numbers, but still found ways to shine at the crowded event.
