A new mechanics shop has opened up in Wauseon. Gear Heads Garage, situated at 304 North Fulton Street, recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Wauseon Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the new business.
Some may have noticed the new shop, which has been open since June 1st this year.
Mechanic Josh Miller and his wife Destiny have been hard at work with their new business and have worked to get to where they are now.
It was explained by the two that Josh has been a mechanic for over 15 years. These past several years the conversation had come up regarding Josh possibly going off to own his own shop. That hadn’t happened over those years of course, until now.
The building they are currently in opened up around spring of this year and the two took a leap of faith. Everything from the couple was put into the opportunity to venture into the world of owning their own business.
As what Josh specializes in, he explained that he is certified in steering and suspension systems and works on brakes, heating and cooling systems, some electrical work, timing jobs, and more. A big part of what Josh says he wants to do is to help educate his customers.
The two explained that, for them, it is not about doing any up sells to the customer. When a vehicle comes in for something and a problem is noticed, it will be added onto paper work for the owner in a list from least priority to high priority.
“When they come in to do an oil change, brake work and other stuff, we want to teach them about vehicle maintenance to prevent larger costs in the future.”
“There has been a trust issue in the industry, and we want to correct that. We want to be transparent while educating and encouraging general maintenance.”
“We also want to be affordable to the point we would rather see people come in a few times a year for routine maintenance instead of a large bill,” said Destiny Miller.
Destiny also explained that she believes they have the most affordable rate in the county and that they will help to lessen the burden that normally comes with most repair bills.
The shop is currently open Monday through Saturday. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday the hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays are open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays are open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
