EVERGREEN BOARD OF EDUCATION: Board Approves 2025-2026 District School Calendar

The Evergreen Board of Education held its meeting on December 16 at 6:00 p.m. The Board conducted the following business:

-Approved the minutes from the regular board meeting held on November 18, 2024, as well as the financial reports for November 2024, which included the cash reconciliation, financial summary, cash summary, and disbursement summary.

-Accepted An anonymous donation of $100 to the Student Assistance Fund.

-Approved a revised Auxiliary Services Agreement with the Educational Service Center of Lake Erie West for the 2024-2025 school year, totaling $88,310.74 for personnel services that will benefit Holy Trinity School. This agreement also included amendments to resources and modifications to appropriations accordingly.

-Approved several personnel recommendations and adopted the 2025-2026 District School Calendar and tentatively approved the 2026-2027 District School Calendar, as the school administration and the calendar committee recommended after receiving public input.

-Approved the Evergreen Local Board of Education to join in membership with the Ohio School Board Association and authorized the Treasurer to pay the membership fee for 2025.

-Approved several overnight trips for FFA Students and Choir Students.

-Set the 2025 Organizational Meeting of the Evergreen Local Board of Education on January 13, 2025 at 5:45 pm to be held in the EHS Loren Pennington Learning Center, with the regular board meeting immediately following.

Jason Miller was elected as the President Pro Tempore to preside at the beginning of the January 2025 Organizational Meeting, until the newly elected president assumes the chair.

The Board also agreed to the following for the 2025 Board of Education Meetings:

-The superintendent will continue to serve as the purchasing agent for the Evergreen Local Board of Education with a single-item limit of $35,000.

-The Board will dispense with the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting; continue to utilize a consent agenda by topic for future meetings; continue to meet on the third Monday of the month at 6:00 pm.; continue accepting oral reports from the building principals; continue to be compensated for a maximum of 13 meetings per year; continue with an Opening Ceremony and the Pledge of Allegiance.

The principals, student services director, and superintendent gave their monthly reports. The elementary principal shared that the tree lighting had a great turnout, and that the MVP took it over this year and did a wonderful job.

The middle school highlighted various Christmas activities scheduled for the week as they prepare for the upcoming break. The high school noted that students are getting ready for exams before the holiday break.

The board entered into executive session at 6:24 p.m. Upon returning, no action was taken, and the meeting was adjourned.
