ARCHBOLD (January 16, 2025) – Delta’s 2-1-2 full court press and half court zone defense harassed Archbold into 36 turnovers as the Panthers left the Thunderdome with a 57-48 win on Thursday night.

After Delta jumped to a 6-0 lead to start the game, a jumper from Charlee Forward and a layup by Alanna Pedraza brought Archbold to within 6-4 despite a rash of first quarter turnovers.

Those points would be Archbold’s only points of the quarter with Delta ripping off the final 13 points of the quarter as Addison Wyse scored on a baseline drive and freshman Anna Lohman buried a triple from the top of the key to get things started.

Kendall Sprow would go 2/2 from the line before a Lohman layup, another bucket from Wyse, and a field goal by Sprow gave the Panthers a 19-4 lead after eight minutes.

Delta opened the second quarter with six unanswered to bring the total run to 19-0 as Lohman and Sprow converted layups and Keagyn Gillen scored on an offensive rebound to make it 25-4.

A Gericke hoop inside stopped the bleeding before Lohman would get another field goal and then go coast-to-coast for a bucket and conventional three-point play to make it 30-10.

Archbold would begin to claw their way back into the game with a 6-0 run to end the half as Pedraza, Klaire Kern, and Gericke each had a bucket to cut the Delta lead to 30-16 at the break.

Delta ended the first half 13/29 from the floor and Archbold was only able to get off 15 shots, making seven, due in part to 24 first half turnovers.

The Streaks drew closer to start the third as Gericke scored again but Sprow answered back with a three ball from the left wing to make it 33-18.

Archbold continued to hang around, cutting the Delta lead to nine points at 40-31 after a bucket from Forward.

Delta again responded with Lohman hitting a pair at the line, Sprow with a basket, and Gillen getting the last three points of the quarter for Delta as they pushed the lead to 47-33 after three quarters.

A Lohman basket opened the final frame, but Archbold engineered a 7-0 run on a field goal by Kern, Gericke drilled a trey, and Makenna Thiel got a layup off a Delta turnover to make it 49-40 at the 5:47 mark.

Following a Delta timeout, the Panthers stopped the Streaks momentum one more time with Wyse getting a bucket, Abbey Todd was 1/2 at the line, and Lohman added a scoop-and-score for a 54-42 lead.

Lohman finished with a game-high 21 points with Sprow and Wyse tallying 14 apiece for Delta (15-0, 3-0 NWOAL), who was guilty of 25 turnovers on the night.

Gericke’s 19 fronted Archbold (12-4, 2-2 NWOAL) and Forward added 11.

DELTA (57) – Lohman 21; Todd3; Krueger 0; Friess 0; A. Gillen 0; Sprow 14; Wyse 14; K. Gillen 5; Totals: 19-2-13 – 57
