PRESS RELEASE – The Fulton County Safe Communities Coalition met on Thursday, January 16th to review traffic related fatalities in the county from October 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024. One crash with 1 fatality was reviewed.

During the review, coalition members looked at the cause of the crash and other related details. Seat belt usage and drowsy driving were identified as contributing factors to this fatality.

To encourage future seat belt use and not driving drowsy, the coalition discussed the importance of continuing to educate Fulton County residents.

Fulton County Safe Communities will continue to enforce the Click It or Ticket campaign to encourage seat belt use, communicate the importance of not driving drowsy, and educate through social media and community events. The current seat belt usage rate for Fulton County as reported by the University of Akron is 87.2%.
