Williams County Crash Injures Four

The two vehicle injury crash occurred on US20 at the intersection of Count Road 1.50 in Northwest Township at approximately 2:47 p.m. A 1994 Mercury Topaz driven by Justin M. Rice, age 18, of Lagrange, Indiana, was northbound on County Road 1.50. The other vehicle was a 2010 Dodge Journey, driven by Walter R. Harvey, age 47, of Clinton, Michigan was eastbound on US20. Mr. Rice failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign and pulled into the path of Mr. Harvey’s vehicle.

Both of the vehicles went off the north side of US20 before coming to rest. Mr. Rice and two juvenile passengers were life-flighted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. One passenger in the Harvey vehicle was transported to the Cameron Memorial Community Hospital in Angola, Indiana. Safety belts were in use by all of the occupants at the time of the crash.

The Defiance Patrol Post was assisted at the scene by Williams County EMS, Northwest Township Fire Department and the Williams County Sheriff’s Department. The crash remains under investigation.
