On Thursday, October 9, at 7:00 a.m., the Pettisville Board of Education met for its regular October meeting in the school’s conference room with Brent Hoylman, Scott Rupp, Barry Hoylman, Justin Rufenacht, and Pam Skates present. Treasurer Chris Lee and Superintendent Josh Clark were also in attendance.

The September 2025 meeting minutes were approved before moving on to personnel matters. Morvin Dixon was appointed to serve as Assistant Fall Play Director, while Rachel Horning will take on the role of Student Council Advisor. Multiple policy updates were adopted before the consent agenda was approved unanimously.

Principal Adam Wagner reported that U.S. News released its Best High School Rankings, in which Pettisville High School was ranked 36th in the state and 3rd in the Toledo Metro area, following Ottawa Hills and Perrysburg.

Nationally, Pettisville placed 1,005th among schools in all 50 states. Rankings are based on test scores, graduation rates, and college readiness.

Gratitude was extended to Mrs. Short, Mrs. Leatherman, Mr. Delphia, and the FFA/Alumni for hosting the Pumpkin Fest, and Principal Wagner noted that “the support from the community is amazing to see.”

The end of the month will bring the fall play, “Around the World in 80 Days,” which will be presented on October 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m. and October 26 at 2:30 p.m.

Treasurer Chris Lee presented the district’s Financial Forecast to the Board, which highlighted total revenue forecasted to increase from $7,651,859 in FY25 to $8,035,176 in FY29.

Total expenditures are projected to rise from $7,566,675 in FY2025 to $8,296,406 by FY29. According to the forecast, annual deficits begin in FY28; however, the district’s cash balance is expected to remain positive through FY29.

The Five-Year Forecast was approved as presented and will be submitted to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.

At 7:24 a.m., the board entered into executive session for the purpose of the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of an employee or official, and the session ended at 7:49 a.m. with no action taken.

The Pettisville Board of Education will hold its next meeting on November 17 at 7:00 p.m.
