PRESS RELEASE – President Cam Miller opened the meeting of the Pulaski Garden Club on November 4, 2025, with the Garden Prayer.
Roll call included which was your best garden success this summer? The majority of members were graced with large quantities of vegetables – squash, tomatoes, pumpkins and herbs, despite the dry summer.
One member also had a rose triple in size. Twenty-two members responded to roll call with two guests.
The Secretary’s Report and Treasurer’s Report were given.
The Floral Design entitled “Count Your Blessings” was presented by Theresa Beal. Her creative design included burning bush, lavender, marigolds, and yucca leaves, on which were written her blessings. A first timer at floral design she was much praised for her accomplishment.
The Unusual Edible, Burdock, was presented by Kay Beck. She displayed the plant, which is a biennial. The first year the roots can be boiled and taste somewhat like artichoke.
It blooms July through October ending with burrs on top which animals like to eat. It has been said that the inventor of Velcro used this plant as his inspiration. Kay in the past has used the large leaves of this plant to make garden art stepping stones.
Old Business
The last cleanup of fairground garden beds has been done for the year. Joyce Mocherman explained her possible design for the redoing of the garden bed under the sign which included roses, grasses and daffodils.
Rozetta Luke will serve as chair of the committee to complete the design. Joyce, Regina Partee, and Carol Wheeler will join her.
The Festival of Trees Christmas trees were finished after four workdays and are ready to be installed on November 24 at the Williams County Court House.
Cam reminded members of state tickets to be sold for $5 each. Prizes may range from $50 to $250.
New Business
Fall Regional meeting is November 6 in Delta. Carpools will meet at Pulaski United Methodist Church at 7:45 am to drive to Delta. Thirteen members plan to attend.
Rozetta, Cam, and Kay have volunteered to set up a Christmas tree at Maumee Bay State Park on November 18, as requested by OAGC.
Rhonda Obus reminded members to sign up for the club Christmas dinner, so she has a count for the caterer. Cost is $20. The gift exchange wrapping contest categories are listed in the yearbook on the December page. Gifts can be $10.
The Williams County Extension is hosting a Holiday floral design event on December 4 at 6 pm in the Gillette Building at the fairgrounds. Cost is $10.
The OAGC is sponsoring the Faye Collins Designer of the Year Contest. 4X6 photographs of your design should be mailed in by December 31 to the state Design Study Chair.
Photography Tips for Pulaski Photo Contest were given by Carol Wheeler. Members were encouraged to use phone cameras which work very well and can also be used to edit. The Art Elements that are used when planning a garden or making a floral design can also be used in taking a picture.
Elements of Color, Texture, Line, Pattern, and Perspective were highlighted with photos showing examples. Backgrounds can also make or break an image.
The Pulaski Garden Club Photo Contest 2025-2026 Rules sheet was given out. All members were encouraged to participate.
Categories for this year are: 1. Gardens in Red/White/and Blue ; 2. Winter Wonderland; 3. Summer’s Sweet; 4. Still Life. Members were reminded that our Centennial Year in 2026 be considered when taking shots.
Photos will be due on October 6, 2026, at the club meeting. The next month photos will be voted upon by club members. The meeting then adjourned.
Door Prize was donated by Jo Anne Beucler and won by Sandy Oberlin.

Canna corms brought by Becky Hill were available to take home as well as cleome seeds from Cam. President Miller thanked tonight’s hostesses Michelle O’Dell and Joyce Paepke.
The next meeting of the Pulaski Garden Club will be December 2, 2025, at 6:30 following a Christmas dinner and party at 5:30.
