EDGERTON (December 5, 2025) – For the second consecutive game, the Archbold Bluestreaks found themselves in another situation where they trailed by double digits at intermission.

Facing another double-digit halftime deficit in its non-league matchup against Edgerton, Archbold somehow managed to put together an impressive second half performance in a 55-34 victory and remained unbeaten at 5-0 on the season.

“Edgerton was just outworking us in the first half,” said Archbold head coach Brian Ziegler. “They were playing harder than us and they were making things happen.”

Archbold had jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first three and a half minutes of the first quarter before Edgerton got its scoring production from Alivia Farnham, Elle Huard, Katilyn Burke and Ava Swank in a span of three minutes as the Lady Bulldogs led 11-7 at the quarter break.

Following a three-point bucket by Archbold freshman Molly Harris at the 5:05 mark of the second quarter, the Streaks were then held without a field goal over the final five minutes of the half as Edgerton went up 26-15 at halftime.

“They caused us to stand around, and we became stagnant on offense,” said Ziegler.

“And they played better on defense and rebounded harder than us. So, everything in the first half was all that Edgerton did and we didn’t respond.”

With their backs to the wall and trailing 28-15, early in the third quarter, the Streaks relied on Harris who provided an important scoring boost in helping the Blue and Gold to get back into the game.

And the 5-10 freshman delivered big time with six three-point buckets in the third quarter.

Once Harris had nailed her second trifecta in the quarter, she was finally into her own comfort zone nailing three straight wide open treys as Archbold went on a 26-4 run before Swank finally ended it for Edgerton with a free throw with 1:44 remaining in the quarter.

“I thought we made some good adjustments in the second half and then we responded,” said the Archbold coach.

Harris ended up with a career-high of 25 points including seven treys in the game, 20 of those points came in the third quarter as the Streaks outscored Edgerton, 26-6, to take a 41-32 lead into the final eight minutes.

“As soon she (Harris) hit the first three-pointer, our girls could see what type of shooter she is,” said the Archbold coach.

“We shoot on a hot streak, so we did a good job finding her and keeping the ball in her hands.

“She was comfortable with her shot, and she also wanted the ball. It was good to see her get on that roll, because she hadn’t gotten on that roll yet this year.

“It was good to see that because we know what we see in practice every day and finally see that come to life in a game.”

Also, scoring in double figures for Archbold were Charlee Forward who finished with 16 points and Miley Gericke contributed 12 points. They were 20 of 47 for 43% from the floor and 6 of 13 from the line for 46%.

The Streaks held Edgerton (3-2) to just eight points in the second half on 3 of 18 field goal shooting for 16%. They also forced 11 turnovers in the half.

Farnham was the only Edgerton player in double figures with 12 points, 10 of those coming in the first half while Swank added eight points.

They were 14 of 40 for 35% from the field but 4 of 10 from the stripe for 40%.

“I thought Reagan Wendt did an outstanding job denying her (Farnham),” said Ziegler. We pretty much wanted to try to take her out of the game as much as we can.

“You really don’t go into a game thinking you could stop her because she’s a heck of a player. She’s one of the best in Northwest Ohio.

“She (Wendt) did a nice job of just staying disciplined and not trying to gamble on her and just kept her from getting to the basket.”
