Eleven students completing Northwest State Community College’s medical assisting associate degree and phlebotomy technician certificate program were recently pinned in a special ceremony held for the graduates. Both programs lead to entry-level positions in the health care field. The phelbotomy certificate program is an example of the many certificate programs available through NSCC that can lead to employment or coursework can be applied toward the necessary credits needed to earn an associate degree.

According to Dr. Holly Barton, department chair, “many students that have earned a phlebotomy technician certificate choose to continue their education for an associate degree in medical assisting while others immediately enter the workforce. This option allows students to make decisions and educational choices based on time, personal preference and financial commitments.”

The following graduates were honored:

Fulton County: Emily Garcia (Archbold), Kali Gray (Delta) and Samantha Ruffer (Archbold)

Henry County: Rafaela Rodriguez (Napoleon)

Paulding County: Deanna Adkins (Oakwood)

Williams County: Lisa Alpaugh (Montpelier), Rebecca Barry (Montpelier), Amy Boucher (Bryan), Wendy Gallant (Bryan) and Kimberly Maneval (West Unity)

Wood County: Danielle Nonnenmacher (Haskins)
