ROTARY … Rusty Gobel spoke as a guest of Ray Brown on Tuesday evening at the Regular meeting of the Stryker Rotary Club. Rusty told of his trip to Louisiana with the Mennonite Disaster Service. The group Rusty was with was helping to rebuild housing following the devastating hurricane. The home they worked on was quite unique to Rusty because is built on poles way out in the swamp. The only way to reach the home was by boat. Many of the people who lived in this area worked in the fishing industry and the oil spill had eliminated many of the jobs. During the week they worked siding and electrical work. They spend a great deal of time setting up and tearing down scaffolding so that they could work on the outside of the structure. Rusty felt it was a rewarding experience to help others who are in need. Rusty is pictured on the left with Stryker Rotary member Ray Brown.
