The Habitat for Humanity of Fulton County home project on Basset Street in Swanton, being constructed for Spring Jones and her family, is still in progress and recently got a big boost from the Swanton Leos Club on a sweltering Saturday morning. Eight Leos Club members, their Lions Club advisor and several other Lions Club members volunteered their time to the project that, according to Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Heidi Kern, has fallen about four weeks behind.
“There is still a lot of work to do on the inside and I have extended the work of the contractors through August,” explained Ms. Kern. “The hours volunteered by the Leos was very helpful.”
As of this writing, there have been approximately 200 volunteers that have helped with the Basset Street home and they have logged 2000 labor hours. Using the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy (CECP) Valuation Guide, this places the value of the donated labor at over $47,000.
